Parker is 5 months old today! It’s been over a month of trying the bottle and sadly, she hasn’t had much improvement. Doctors believe it may take her months in the NICU for her breathing to improve enough to safely complete a bottle. A G tube (feeding tube) which she would be able to come home with was recommended a few weeks ago. After some careful thought, we decided to proceed. We will be able to practice the bottle at home with Parker alongside PT and OT while she continues to be fed through the tube while perfecting bottle feeding. She will also be sent home on O2. Tomorrow, she will be getting the G tube placed and if all goes well, she will be discharged in the coming weeks.
